Judy’s new CD Under a Painted Sky, is getting rave reviews — John Gilbert of Jazzreview.com writes, “This recording should be in the true Jazzophiles collection — it gets no better!” She has headlined at such noted clubs as the Blue Note, Kitano, Birdland and Feinstein’s in NY, Jazz Alley in Seattle, Blues Alley in D.C., Catalina Jazz Club in LA, Yoshi’s in SF. Joe Bagg on piano and jazz organ returns to DCJB as a favorite of our audience.

By popular demand, Bob and Samantha return to the DCJB for an afternoon of swinging and singing. Bob holds the enviable record of being Johnny Mercer’s accompanist for 16 years. He also was the accompanist/musical director for legends of jazz Carmen McRae, Anita O’Day and Peggy Lee, among others. We celebrate today with a thank you to all the mothers in the audience.

Jeff Colella, piano and Frank Potenza, guitar play & sing contemporary jazz. Jeff Colella toured with Lou Rawls for 16 years, was Musical Director for Jack Jones and has performed & recorded with Diane Schurr, Kenny Washington, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Anita O’Day and Dolly Parton to name a few. Frank Potenza is currently a full Professor and Chair of the USC Thornton School of Music Studio/Jazz Guitar Department. He has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Mose Allison, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Michael Bublé, among many others.

Iceland Diva Anna Mjoll sings and special guests swing jazz standards. Anna evokes Peggy Lee, Astrud Gilberto and especially Blossom Dearie, but fascinates with her highly personal interpretations. She knows how to caress a melody and seduce the listener.

Debby Boone appears in program of pop/jazz tunes as only she can do them. Debby Boone earned instant fame when her first single, “You Light Up My Life”, was an overnight hit. The tune claimed the #1 spot on the Billboard charts for 10 straight weeks and sold in excess of four million copies. “You Light Up My Life” ranks # 7 in Billboard Magazine’s The Hot 100’s All-Time Top-Charting Songs of the last five decades. Debby received the GRAMMY® Award for Best New Artist of the Year, and has since won two additional GRAMMY Awards, and seven GRAMMY nominations.
Debby Boone’s current Concord Records release, Reflections of Rosemary, is an intimate musical portrait of her late mother-in-law, the legendary singer Rosemary Clooney. Debby’s newest EP Album was inspired by her childhood years immersed in the Las Vegas “Swing” culture of the ‘60’s while traveling with her father, Pat Boone.
